Section outline

  • General

  • The following introduction will answer the most important questions you may have about this course. Whether you are a student or a teacher, please read it carefully, as it will explain how to go about the course.

    Activities: 3

  • "
Mathematics is the language in which God has written the universe."
    Galileo Galilei

This module contains two sections;  the first one introduces you to basic mathematical symbols, the second covers decimals, fractions, exponents, and roots. Obviously, the sections will not teach you mathematics but will show you how to deal with mathematical notions, equations, and formulae in English.

    Activities: 17
  • Shapes

    "The
knowledge of which geometry aims is the knowledge of the eternal."

    Plato

This module contains three sections. The first two will introduce you to the topic of shapes (2D and 3D), whereas in the third section you will be able to test yourself.

    Activities: 17

  • "The power and beauty of physical laws is that they apply everywhere, whether or not you choose to believe in them.
In other words, after the laws of physics, everything else is opinion."
    Neil deGrasse Tyson

This short module will help you make sure how to name, pronounce and read basic symbols, formulae and equations. It can be treated as a reference section whenever needed.

    Activities: 7
  • "There is nothing that living things do that cannot be understood from the point of view that they are made of atoms acting according to the laws of physics." Richard P. Feynman

A pleasant and eye-opening way to convince everybody that Physics is not only a fundamental but also an interesting component of our world.

    Activities: 20

  • "Teachers who make Physics boring are crimials." Walter Lewin

In this module there are three main sections with some selected issues from the field of Physics. The first one deals with basic concepts like power, work and energy; you will find here topics like energy conversion in human body,  thermodynamics and alternative sources of energy. The second section is devoted to waves, both light and seismic ones. Finally, the third one discusses loads and forces, for example how they are exerted on human body.

    Activities: 19

  • "The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race… It would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever-increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete, and would be superseded."
     Stephen Hawking

This module should be treated as food for thought as it deals with  Artificial Intelligence (AI) and  the  Internet of Things (IoT),  which will be your future.

The topic of Artificial Intelligence is brought to you in the context of the year 2020.

    Activities: 14

  • "The science of today is the technology of tomorrow." Edward Teller

This module contains three sections;  the first one introduces you to the basics of electronics, the second covers a topic, selected from the field of robotics, which is necessary for the development of surgical robots, and, finally, the third section is devoted to Programmable Logic Controllers.

    Activities: 21
  • Smart Technologies

"Science and technology multiply around us. To an increasing extent they dictate the languages in which we speak and think. Either we use those languages, or we remain mute." James Graham Ballard

This module deals with smart technologies. The first section is devoted to smart buildings; the second one introduces you to the topic of autonomous vehicles. In the third section, you will get acquainted with vocabulary related to the automobile system.

    Activities: 22
  • "I am among those who think that science has great beauty. A scientist in his laboratory is not only a technician: he is also a child placed before natural phenomena which impress him like a fairy tale." Marie Curie

Welcome to the chemical language lab! This module contains three main sections. The first one deals with basic concepts in chemistry, with special focus on the periodic table of elements. The second section is devoted to basic laboratory equipment and lab safety. Finally, the third explores the chemistry of the human body.

    Activities: 19
  • "Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done. One could write a history of science in reverse by assembling the solemn pronouncements of highest authority about what could not be done and could never happen." Robert A. Heinlein

This module contains three sections. Key topics in the main sections include mechanical properties of materials, introduction to nanomaterials and a modest attempt at exploring latest developments in innovative materials. Finally, the third section provides a brief revision of grammatical rules for plurals of Latin and Greek words.

    Activities: 14
  • Earth Sciences

"The Earth is what we all have in common." Wendell Berry

This module contains three sections. Key topics in the first section include introduction to Earth Sciences with special focus on geology. By looking at map projections in the in the second section we will address their implications on how we perceive the world. Finally, the third section provides a brief revision of grammatical rules for using articles in geographical names.

    Activities: 16
  • Escape Room

"We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing!"
    George Bernnard Shaw

This module contains an escape game which is meant to be a revision. The questions have been selected from the entire course. Follow the security camera for instructions and solve all the puzzles to complete the game.
